Banned Review: Sony KDL-52XBR5 XBR LCD HDTV

A few weeks ago I coughed up the cash for one of these and I must say I could never go back to anything smaller or of less quality. The 52″ Sony HDTV is amazing in all aspects. It’s dead sexy, the screen shows barely any glare from windows, the blacks are dark, and I’m talking Forest Whitaker dark, not Will Smith dark (which is like tanning salon dark), and the picture is actually able to trick me into thinking Halle Berry is dripping wet, walking out of the ocean to me, not Pierce Brosnan.

The picture is native 1080p, which in Lehman’s terms means you pop in your Girls Gone Wild flick, and it actually feels like you’re in college again. And I am in college, so it feels like Saturday, any time I want.

As for sound, the stock speakers are surprisingly good. Of course I upgraded my system for movie watching, but for everyday TV, the Sony Bravia speakers suffice.

A common question people ask about my Sony XBR, besides “wanna hang out?” is whether or not sports on the LCD are as crisp and clear as they are on Plasma TV’s. The answer: a hands down yes. I just finished watching the Dodgers beat the Mets (nice in the ballpark home run Blake DeWitt, oh and thanks for striking out Andruw Jones) and there is absolutely no trail on a 95 MPH fastball. Awesome.

The Conclusion: Go buy one today. Get off your lazy @ss and purchase one of these, so you can be even more lazy in front of your 52″ Sony XBR, LCD HDTV!
