A few weeks ago Cecilia Giménez, the octogenarian who took it upon herself to restore Spain’s Ecce Homo fresco made headlines after botching the hundred-year-old painting.
It is being hailed as the worlds worst fresco touch-up, a “crayon sketch of a very hairy monkey in an ill-fitting tunic” and among other things, the world’s most expensive painting of a sloth.
That said, the good people of the internet have taken in on themselves to reference Giménez’s botch in one of the greatest memes of 2012.
