As most of you already know, California passed legislation to ban the operator of a motor vehicle from texting while driving. The law went into action January 1st, 2009 but came with a minor glitch — Cops are exempt.
That’s right. According to the CA DMV website Q&A,
Q: What other exceptions are there?
A: Operators of an authorized emergency vehicle during the course of employment are exempt, as are those motorists operating a vehicle on private property.
Just make sure you’re driving your motorcycle with one hand and are wearing your official texting gloves while you do it. And try to keep the sexting to a minimum.
